Dumpster Rental vs. Junk Removal: Which Fits Your Cleanout?

Rent a dumpster and load it yourself, or have a crew load and haul it for you? The right call depends on time, labor and how the debris comes out.

Dumpster Rental vs. Junk Removal: Which Fits Your Cleanout?

We do both, so here's an honest look at when each one makes sense.

Choose a dumpster rental when

  • Debris comes out over days or weeks, like a renovation or a slow attic-to-garage cleanout.
  • You have the labor: your crew, your family or a weekend.
  • There's room for a container about 60 feet by 10 feet including the truck's approach.
  • The volume is large: a whole house, a roof or a construction job.

You load at your own pace, and we haul it away when you call.

Choose junk removal when

  • Everything is ready to go now, in one trip.
  • You don't have the hands or the time to load it yourself.
  • There's no room for a container, or you don't want one in the driveway.
  • The items are heavy or awkward: furniture, construction debris piles, storm debris.

We load it, haul it and take care of disposal.

Common situations

Rental turnovers and property managers. A tenant leaves furniture and junk behind and the unit has to be ready fast. Junk removal clears it in one visit.

Estate and whole-property cleanouts. Usually a mix: a 30-yard roll-off for the bulk over several days, plus a crew for the heavy pieces.

House flips. Demo and renovation make a dumpster the clear choice, often with a swap schedule.

After a storm. Downed limbs and damaged materials pile up fast. See our storm cleanup guide.

What size dumpster for an estate cleanout?

A full-property or estate cleanout usually needs a 30-yard roll-off.

Do you offer both dumpsters and junk removal?

Yes. M&R Disposal offers roll-off rentals and junk removal across seven parishes of Greater New Orleans.
